Maître | Aurum

For our gastronomic restaurant Aurum (14.5/20 Gault et Millau), we are looking for an assistant maître d’ who is ready to grow alongside a young and driven team.


Aurum is part of the five-star hotel Kasteel van Ordingen, a jewel in the heart of Haspengouw (near Sint-Truiden and Hasselt). The castle estate includes 32 rooms and suites, Bistro Richard, wellness facilities, a maximalist lounge, three meeting rooms for business events, and a pear orchard and vineyard. As a member of Relais & Châteaux, we strive to offer an optimal guest experience in a warm, authentic, family-oriented setting.


As maître d’, you will be the right hand of the restaurant manager and a key link in the daily operations of the restaurant. You will support the team management, guide the guest experience from A to Z, and ensure refined and professional top-level service. You contribute to a warm, welcoming atmosphere and ensure that every guest enjoys an unforgettable experience.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests and provide a professional yet dynamic service (with or without supervision from the maître d’)
  • Take and process orders
  • Advise guests with the necessary knowledge of drinks and dishes
  • Perform mise-en-place
  • Maintain order and cleanliness in the restaurant
  • Serve hot and cold beverages to guests
  • Ensure smooth communication between the kitchen and the restaurant, including special requests and allergies
  • Maintain and replenish stock

Profile

  • Passion for hospitality and high-level gastronomy
  • Work experience in a similar role and/or fine dining restaurant
  • Always driven and ambitious to exceed our guests’ expectations
  • Strong social and communication skills
  • Friendly and well-groomed appearance, with a warm smile
  • Solution-oriented team player who can also work independently
  • Broad language skills: Dutch, English, and/or French
  • Flexibility and stress-resistance: peak moments give you extra energy
