In our gastronomic restaurant Aurum, we are looking for a sommelier to strengthen our team.

The Aurum team serves balanced and refined dishes in a unique setting.

Aurum is part of the five-star Kasteel van Ordingen, a gem in the heart of Haspengouw (near Sint-Truiden and Hasselt). The castle estate also includes 32 rooms and suites, Bistro Richard, a wellness area, a maximalist lounge, 3 meeting rooms for business events, as well as a pear orchard and vineyard. As a member of Relais & Châteaux, we aim to provide an exceptional guest experience in a family-oriented and authentic environment.

• Create, manage, and expand the restaurant’s wine list
• Assist the dining team as needed
• Provide each guest with a unique fine dining experience and ensure professional, dynamic service
• Participate in mise en place
• Advise guests on wine choices and food pairings
• General product and beverage knowledge, with an emphasis on wines
• Manage non-alcoholic beverages and wines by the glass
• Knowledge of digestifs, fortified wines, and cocktails/mocktails
• Maintain order and cleanliness in the dining room
• Collaborate closely with the chef and the kitchen team
• Maintain and replenish stock

• Passion for wines, hospitality, and high-level gastronomy
• Ambition to further develop at this level
• Work experience in a similar role and/or fine dining restaurant
• Motivated and ambitious to exceed guest expectations
• Strong social and communication skills
• Eye for detail and presentation
• Friendly and polished appearance, with a broad smile
• Solution-oriented team player who can also work independently
• Flexible and stress-resistant attitude
• Proficiency in Dutch, English, and/or French
